ABOUT ME

I was born in Bucharest on July 25, 1983. At the age of 5 I started studying the piano. The days were divided between the morning when I was studying at the piano and the afternoons I played with my sister in the grandparents garden in Cluj. In the years that followed I continued my studies in parallel with the school. It was a pretty big effort but today I know it’s worth it!

In the 6th grade I entered the “Voces Primavera” girls choir directed by master Negulescu and in the 9th grade I entered the George Enescu Music High School the main piano class of Professor Gabriela Enasescu where I graduated in the year 2002.in the

Followed admission to college. I decided to join UNATC, the acting section. I entered! Here I am in the autumn of 2002 student in the first year at the theater! Years of college were wonderful but, unfortunately, they passed very quickly. I stayed with pleasant memories and lots of good friends.

In June 2006 I graduated in the class of Professor George Ivaşcu / Doru Ana year co-ordinator, with the musical “The two orphanes”. The show was awarded the “Best Performance Award” at the 2006 UNATC Gala. In the same year, I received the “Jury Special Prize” and “The Debut Award” as the Master of Ceremonies in the same play.

How I started to sing jazz

At the music high school I was a classmate with the well-known pianist and composer Andrei Tudor. “I listen to jazz,” he said, carrying his headphones all the way to his ears. I did not know much about this music, so I did not give it a great deal at first. Still, curious, I asked him to lend me some tapes to listen to.

From that moment I fell in love with JAZZ. In 2002 I started singing with him in duo, voice and piano. We debuted at the “Stories from the Studio of Arts” program of the Romanian Broadcasting Company in December 2002. There followed a series of recitals and concerts in Bucharest and the country. The first confirmation came in 2004 when I received the “Debut Award” at the Jazz Awards Gala for 2003, and then in 2011 the “Youth of Jazz” Award.

Soon after, I started to play with famous Romanian jazz instrumentalists: Puiu Pascu, Ciprian Parghel, Tudor Parghel, Marius Popp, Marius Vernescu, Sorin Zlatan, Sorin Romanescu, Alex Man, Sorin Terinte, Virgil Popescu, Alin Constantiu are just a few of those who contributed to my training as an artist. I have played on many scenes from Bucharest and the country as well as at numerous National and International Festivals. All, wonderful and unique experiences for me. In the summer of 2003, I met Anca Parghel who was a good teacher and friend of mine and from whom I learned a lot. For this and many others I will always be grateful and thank you for my heart. In 2006 I met Marius Mihalache who proposed me to record one album together. This is how World Symphony was born.

Then in 2015 we recorded the second album “ETHNOTIC Project – Seven Stairs” which was awarded as “Ethnojazz CD of 2015” at the Jazz Awards Gala.

I was once asked how I managed to do so much in so little time. I responded “with love, ambition, passion … and a bit of luck.”
